SEBASTIAN BELIWINE

Sebastian Beliwine, a prominent representative of the High Commission of Ghana. Minister Counsellor/Political & Economic with the Ghana High Commission in New Delhi. Sebastian Beliwine is a Minister-Counsellor/Political & Economic Affairs with the Ghana High Commission in New Delhi. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Political Science from the University of Ghana and Master of Arts Degree in International Affairs from the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy, University of Ghana. He was recruited into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana in June 2000. He subsequently pursued Certificate Courses in International relations at the United Nation Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Netherlands Institute for International Relations, Clingendael, The Hague. He previously served in the Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations, New York 2006-2010, Embassy of Ghana, Monrovia, Liberia 2012-2016.

PROF. BRIJ MAHARAJ

Department of Geography, University of Kwazulu-Natal Durban, South Africa He is a senior professor of geographer at the University of Kwazulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa. He has received widespread recognition for his research on urban politics. segregation. local economic development, xenophobia and human rights. migration and diasporas, religion, philanthropy and development, and has published over 140 scholarly papers in renowned journals such as Urban Studies. International Journal of Urban and Regional Studies Political Geography. Urban Geography. Antipode Pouty and Space. Geoforum, Migration and Development, Local Economy and GeoJournal, as well as five co-edited book collections. In October 1998 he was elected Fellow of the Society of South African Geographers in recognition of outstanding scholarship in the field of Geography He has also served on the Public Policy (Vice-Chair 2004-2008) and Human Mobility Commissions of the International Geography Union (IGU). He is chairperson of the South African National Committee of the IGU. In November 2005 he was the Ida Beam Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Iowa He is co-editor of the South African Geographical Journal (Routledge).He was also Consulting Editor of the Journal of Immigration and Refugee Studies He has served on the editorial boards of Geoforum. Antipode Indian Ocean Survey African Geographical Review. Migration and Development, and South Asian Diaspora He is a regular media commentator on topical issues as part of his commitment to public intellectualism.

DR. ANIL SARDANA

Dr. Anil Sardana who is an excellent educator and leader. We are fortunate enough to be under such an efficacious personality for the development of the college. He is an alumnus, a teacher and now the principal of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College who has been associated with the college for 46 years. His ideas and foresight inspire us to move ahead and have multi-dimensional education. A person who is always by the side of the staff and the students is the person we rightly can call the principal of an institution and that is who Dr. Anil Sardana is. His progressive and purpose driven strategy are an asset for the institution. He has been the part of Delhi University since 1976 and hence has a vast knowledge of the establishment. Sir, it is an honour for the entire college to have you as our principal.

SANJEEV SHARMA (GUEST OF HONOUR)

Dr. Sanjeev Sharma has been teaching as Assistant Professor in the Centre for Study of Regional Development, School of Social Science, Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi, since July 2017. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director, HRDC, JNU; he is Co-Coordinator, Centre of Excellence, Tribal Studies. He has been engaged with various academic institutions such as Dr. H.S. Gour Central University of Sagar, IISER, Mohali, WWF-India among others. His research expertise is in human ecology; Environmental impact assessment; environmental management and disaster management, policy planning and nature conservation; science society, nature study and landscape development etc.

GURPREET SINGH (CHIEF GUEST)

He is an Associate Professor at Zakir Husain Delhi College, University Of Delhi. He has a Doctorate in Mathematics (Senior Research Fellow, CSIR) from the University of Delhi and has an experience of more than 20 years. He has done a lot of work in popularising CAS (Computer Algebra System) and R. He is a Microsoft Certified Software Developer and an Associate member of Insurance Institute of India. Being a popular teacher, he was awarded the ‘distinguished teacher’ award by the University of Delhi, while serving as Deputy Dean Students’ Welfare, University of Delhi. He served SGT University, Gurugram as Pro-Vice-Chancellor during 2018-2020. He has also served as HOD of Mathematics in Muscat, Oman. He has published several papers in national and international journals and is also the author of the popular book ‘Practical Mathematics using Maxima’.

Prof Srinagesh

Prof Srinagesh completed Post-Doctoral Studies in Geography from Osmania University with specialisation in Urban Geography, GIS, Health Geography, Climate Change and Critical Geography. Currently he is a Professor of Geography & Director UGC-HRDC, Osmania University, Hyderabad. He is actively involved in teaching and research covering a vast array of domains like Geography, geoinformatics on national as well as international platforms. With more than 20 years of experience in research, teaching and administrative domain, he is presently associated with various prestigious institutions like ,MHRD , ISRO, IGU Commission on Local and Regional Development_2016-2020), , IIG, Pune. He has been honoured with a no. of accolades like Shippensburg University Award for Organizational Skills, 11th AUC Conference,(AURA), USA, UGC – RESEARCH AWARD. We feel really grateful and honoured with his presence in this event.

Dr. Preeti Dahiya

Dr. Preeti Dahiya has completed her education from Panjab University, Chandigarh. She has varied research and teaching interests which include, Social, Cultural and Economic Dynamics of Indian Rural Life, rural-urban convergence and urbanisation Patterns. She is actively involved in variety of gender based activities and has worked successfully on the Changing Patterns of Discrimination against women in contemporary society. She is associated with many associations like the Indian Sociological Society and the North West Indian Sociological Association. She has been regularly publishing in various journals of international and national repute on different gender and other sociological issues. She is currently working on “Rural Urban Interface: Understanding Peri- Urban Areas in India”

Wael Albattrekhi

He is a Minister-Counsellor, Deputy Head of Mission at Embassy of State of Palestine in Delhi. He did his Bachelor of Education in International Relations and Affairs(1998-2005) from Corvinus University of Budapest. He did his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in International Relations and Diplomatic Studies (1989-1998) from the Medical University of Budapest. He has worked as a Deputy Head Of Mission in the Embassy of State of Palestine in Delhi (October 2016- Present), Head of Media Department in Ministry of Foreign Affairs of State of Palestine(Jan 2012- present), and Head of Media Department in Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Palestine (2011- present).

DR. AMITA CHANDRA

Dr. Amita Chandra is a professor at Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi. She has completed her Ph.D., PG and UG from Banaras Hindu University. She was also the Secretary of the Departmental Council. Being a very experienced faculty, she has been teaching the students since 1999, starting her career from Punjab University and now in Delhi University. She has also supervised the submission of various doctoral theses and has also completed various research projects on a wide variety of topics. Moreover, she has been an organizer of many significant conferences held throughout the past decade.

MR. ALOK BANSAL

The man of distinct vision and a fountainhead of illuminating ideas, an idol of knowledge and experience and inspiration to all of us, Mr. Alok Bansal, our keynote speaker, is a Post Graduate in Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and an Engineering graduate from Delhi Technological University. He is himself experienced in foreign education as he has also done a Course in Leadership from Harvard Business School. He has worked at senior management positions at companies like ICICI Lombard, Larsen & Toubro, IBP Caltex, ExxonMobil etc. He is an Expert Career Counsellor & Mentor. RISHI SURI

Our chief guest Mr. Rishi Suri is a senior editor covering international affairs at The Daily Milap. His interviews with international personalities and heads of states has been widely acclaimed.He has previously served as the Media Consultant to the Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister. Mr. Rishi is one of the few certified diplomatic correspondents by the Ministry of External Affairs in India and has been a part of various international delegations and programs like the International Visitor Leadership program run by the State Department of the United States of America. Mr. Rishi is currently the chairperson of the outreach board of the World Integrity Centre in Dehradun, Uttarakhand and serves on the advisory boards of Delhi based NGOs like the ‘You Can Foundation’ and the ‘Sarvam Foundation' and has also co-founded a media organisation called Grin news. Mr. Rishi also serves as a Director of the School of Policy and Governance, India and consults on communication with the Australia India Institute, Delhi.

Richa Jain

A prodigy in Kathak, Richa Jain started her formal training in Kathak at the tender age of 3; Kathak exponents Guru Shri. Ravi Jain (Disciple of Padma Shri Shambhu Maharaj, and Alaknanda Devi )and Guru Smt. Nalini Jain. . She is one of the few dancers who exhibits this rare quality of dancing and singing simultaneously while presenting Abhinaya( Expressions) on Thumri, Dadra, Ghazals, Geet etc. Richa Jain has also been awarded the title of ‘Singarmani ‘ by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai in 2009. She has been a part of various dance workshops and worked as an assistant choreographer under her guru for various productions and telefilms. Richa holds a Graduate degree and Post-graduate Degree in commerce. She has also completed her Master’s in Kathak Dance and in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music, from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.

Charlie Sir

Charlie Sir is one of the first generation of Hip Hop dancers in India, and has been teaching and imparting knowledge in different parts of India through workshops, classes and shows. He has also been on national television, in the dance show- Dance Plus season 4, on Star Plus. He has been a nationwide dance teacher in an on-screen dance training program with Madhuri Dixit. He has won many titles/awards in dance battles and shows and also judged many shows and competitions.

Dr. Prerna Arora

Dr. Prerna Arora is an Associate Professor of Music in Janki Devi Memorial College for the last 31 years. She did her Ph. D. in Music from Faculty of Music and Fine Arts ,Delhi University. She is a disciple of the renowned Classical Musician Singh Bandhu. Dr. Prerna is a co-author of the book ' Sangeet ke Dedeepyaman Soorya - Ustad Amir Khan'. She has been performing on stage, AIR and Doordarshan for a long time now.

She has been teaching Sociology for more than 25 years. She is currently working with the Amarjyoti Institute of Physiotherapy. In the past, she has worked at the British Council, in Mozambique and taught the 'A' levels as well. Having learnt carnatic music from childhood, she has a keen interest in music and participates in many programmes. She also has a vivid interest in dance, art and literature and has completed many courses in art appreciation.
